SELF-LOVE WONT’ GIVE YOU BUTTERFLIES, BUT IT WILL GIVE YOU WINGS

SELF-LOVE WONT’ GIVE YOU BUTTERFLIES, BUT IT WILL GIVE YOU WINGS

Okay, so we all hear it.  The phrase “self-love” gets tossed around like it’s a magic key to life – like if you just love yourself enough, everything will fall into place and you’ll feel like a walking, talking rom-com lead.  Spoiler alert:  Self love doesn’t exactly give you butterflies.  But it will give you wings.

Yes, you hear that right.  Those butterflies you’re waiting for.  They’re a little overrated.  You know what’s better than fluttery excitement and getting lost in someone’s arms?  Gaining the confidence to fly on your own.

Here’s the thing – self-love isn’t about the rush of emotions that come with a first date or the flurry of compliments from someone you’re crushing on.  It’s about knowing you’re already enough.  It’s knowing that your worth doesn’t hinge on anyone’s approval.  It’s the peace that comes from not constantly chasing that next high, and instead embracing the beauty of just being.

Now back to those wings.  When you really love yourself, it’s like you’ve been given a pair of strong wings that help you rise above all the noise.  Imagine those times when you thought you weren’t good enough or when you doubted your potential.  Now picture yourself soaring above all that with the power of self-love.  While butterflies can leave you feeling giddy for a moment, self-love will leave you with a lasting feeling of inner strength and peace.  You won’t need anyone else’s approval to feel good about yourself, because you already know you’re worth it.

And when you’re confident in who you are?  You won’t need to chase after butterflies.  They’ll be chasing you

So, How Do You Get These Wings?
You don’t need a huge revelation or some dramatic self-help book.  Here are some ways to start embracing self-love that’ll make you feel like you’re flying (without the butterflies, obviously):

1.     Stop the Comparison Game:
The moment you stop comparing yourself to everyone else, your wings will start to emerge.  It’s like a magical transformation.  You’ll realise you don’t need to be anyone but you – and that’s the most freeing feeling of all.

2.     Make time for Yourself:
It’s easy to get lost in the hustle.  But taking the time to rest, reflect and do things that bring you joy is what fuels your wings.  Whether it’s a bubble bath, reading, or just sitting in silence – self-love means making space for yourself.

3.     Set Boundaries Like a Pro:
When you love yourself, you get good at saying no to things that drain you.  Those mental boundaries help your wings stay strong and protect your energy.  People will start respecting you more, because you’ve started respecting yourself.

4.     Celebrate  Your Small Wins:
Self-love isn’t just about those big milestones, it’s about celebrating every tiny step you take toward the life you deserve.  So that, extra shot of espresso in your coffee this morning.  Celebrate it.  Make it through a workweek with all your sanity intact?  Major Win.

5.     Embrace Imperfection:
Perfection is overrated – and it’s impossible.  When you embrace your flaws and imperfections, you free yourself from the pressure of trying to meet unattainable standards.  Self-love means accepting yourself as you are flaws and all.  Those little quirks?  They’re your wings.

At the end of the day, self-love isn’t about feeling endlessly elated or having your heart race every time you walk into a room.  It’s about building your own foundation of confidence, peace and resilience.  And while you might not feel like you’re floating on air every day, you’ll be soaring higher than you ever thought possible.

Because self-love is what gives you wings to achieve, create and most importantly, be yourself- strong, unapologetic, and ready for the day
